Why do 10 things OKAY when you can do 1 thing amazing.

I’ve been thinking about that a ton.

I listened to a talk with the CEO of Snowflake, an $80B software co. He’s an absolute UNIT when it comes to execution. He asks the question “What one thing do you need to focus on?” Many employees, executives, startup founders etc struggle with this question. The tendency is to select a TON of things to focus on. I’m taking this to heart. The last 6 months I’ve tried to do a TON of different things at the same time.

One other great thing I learned from him

• When someone brings you a piece of work thats subpar, ask them “what do you think about this?”.

Most of the time the person will respond honestly and get back to the work to make it a better quality memo, pitch, t shirt design, financial model etc.

Now I’m ONLY focusing on my startup. I’m building rapture into a global entertainment company. We’re an app that connects artists with hosts. I’ll still record a video and write an email every couple of weeks but I’m not going to try to become a YouTube star.. I’ll do those things for fun.

The apps are done. Now we’re ironing out core features.

I was in Chattanooga, Tennessee this weekend throwing an artist meetup with our first users. We got amazing feedback and the problem we’re solving is 100% validated.

What I learned giving a talk to first users

• Keep your part short and sweet

• Get users talking asap

• Create an open environment for collaboration

• Im building this for them, not me
